Mission: The Globeville, Elyria-Swansea Coalition organizes neighbors to build collective power and to prevent displacement by providing and preserving affordable housing in perpetuity. We organize for health and housing justice through collective neighborhood leadership. We protect our historically exploited neighborhoods through stewardship of community-owned housing, green and commercial spaces. Our organization is community-driven and founded on a shared commitment to economic, racial, and environmental justice.
The GES Coalition has been actively engaging with city officials, including Mayor Mike Johnston, to advocate for community-led development of the “Triangle” parcel—a 65-acre area near Brighton Boulevard and I-70 in Denver—with a vision that includes affordable housing, local businesses, and public spaces like a “People’s Plaza,” all managed through their Tierra Colectiva Community Land Trust to prevent displacement and ensure long-term community ownership.
Tierra Colectiva is a community land trust dedicated to preventing displacement in the GES neighborhoods by creating and preserving affordable housing and community-owned land. Through collective organizing, community planning, and partnerships, Tierra Colectiva works to acquire, rehabilitate, and steward land for long-term community benefit. The trust supports affordable homeownership, builds leadership among neighbors, and continues to expand housing opportunities to meet the needs of the community.
GES Coalition is building tenant power across Denver to fight displacement, improve housing conditions, and strengthen tenant rights. Our work supports tenant associations like Longview Mobile Home Tenants Association and the Vina Tenant Association, while also co-leading the Tenant Power Assembly — a citywide coalition advancing tenant protections at state and local levels.
